WEEP NOT FOR ME

I did not know
When I was born,
That 'til that day
"I" had no form
Of mind
With which to ponder
The truths of life,
Its beauty,
Its wonder.
But, as I grew
To know life's ways,
Its struggles,
Its pain,
I learned another truth:
Time's ceaseless claim,
Its eternal reign.
So -- I've gone again
To nothingness of mind,
That infinite realm
From which I came.
Weep not for me,
Nor grieve,
For I have but returned
To sleep --
Dreamless sleep --
Eternal sleep.
